Someone apparently missed half the season. Wtf.
He spent the whole year pining and obviously lost the one thing most important to him and worse, Hurt the one person most important to him. He’s been paying for that mistake all year. Having friends doesn’t mean he didn’t pay for it asshat.
Like what fucking consequences did every other cheater on this show face??
I seriously do not get why there is such a double standard with Blaine. He has had the most realistic and genuine consequences from his cheating compared to every other character on the show.
He told the truth immediately after it happened, unlike Quinn, Mercedes, Tina, Finn and Puck.
He made no excuses, unlike Santana, Rachel and Brittany and I hesitant to add - Kurt with the Chandler situation. Saying “I’m sorry that this upsets you” is making excuses even if the extent of was it cheating debatable. It was wrong though, can’t deny that.
He was not married unlike Will and Emma (she may not have physically cheated, but emotionally hell yes)
He was remorseful, unlike Tina, Rachel, Finn, Quinn, Mercedes, Brittany, Santana, and Puck.
He didn’t ignore the consequences of cheating and try to get other characters to: Santana to Brittany, Mike to Tina, Sam to Mercedes, Finn to Quinn, Rachel to Finn, Puck to Quinn, Puck to Rachel.
Blaine, Blaine went straight to New York and told the truth. It ended with Kurt breaking up with him. His soulmate, as Blaine calls himself. He knew this would happen, but he respected Kurt enough to tell him. He has then spent many episodes depressed, guilty and remorseful over his cheating. He made it clear why he cheated. This goes back to series 3 in Emma’s office where he told Kurt that he was scared of being alone next year, and Kurt forgetting about him. From Blaine’s limited perspective of Kurt in the beginning of series 4 this is exactly what happened.
During the duration of Kurt being in New York, he ignores Blaine’s calls, he only talks about New York and ignores Blaine again, and he ends a call without telling Blaine he loves him. I believe that was the breaking point. Blaine didn’t feel like Kurt loved him anymore, and wanted to find comfort ie Eli. He has then spent the series apologising to Kurt (this is canon even if we haven’t seen it on screen). Blaine is rejected by Kurt in Glease, Kurt says he doesn’t trust him (OH hello massive consequence of his actions!!! This is a huge deal for a relationship like Klaine which is funded on trust! Their first meeting is Kurt literally trusting Blaine enough to speak to him about bullying). Then there’s the obvious fact that Kurt has still not completely forgiven him, or that they aren’t back together. The last thing Kurt said regarding their relationship is a) he wants to get over Blaine and b) they weren’t hooking up anymore and his feelings for Blaine were “weird”. Whatever that means.
Was Blaine right for what he did? HELL NO. Should he be easily forgiven? Hell No, and HE WASN’T. Is it wholly Kurt’s fault? HELL NO!!! But if you don’t think he experienced consequences you have been watching a completely different show. And he has most certainly felt more of a backlash for his cheating on the show, and bizarrely from fans despite the fact that he is the only one who is actually trying to redeem his actions.
